How my friends and I played Blackjack
(it is not Blackjack)

Deal 7 cards each, placing the remainder face down. Turn over the top card to form the playing pile. Dealer's left goes first. Take turns to play one card, following either the suit or rank. If unable to play, draw a card from the deck. Announce 'last card' or be forced to draw a card - and the first to empty their hand, wins.

Magic cards as follows:
  • Ace - change suit
  • 2 - next player needs to draw two cards (or stack with another 2)
  • Jack (black) - next player needs to draw seven cards (or stack with a blackjack, or null with a redjack
  • Queen - change direction of play
  • King - next player misses a go
    • How my friends and I played "Irish" Snap

    The aim is to empty your hands. The deck is dealt equally to all players, with each holding the pile face down. Take it in turns to place one card, each saying a rank as you play (the first says 'Ace', the second 'Two', and so on, looping from King back to Ace). Snap happens when: a) two cards match, or b) the card put down has the same value as the number said.

    The last person to place their hand on the pile of cards following a Snap must add the pile to their deck. They then start play, counting again from 'Ace'. If anyone mistakenly Snaps, they also have to add the pile to their deck.

    Whoever empties their hand first wins, and gets to add a rule. Anyone who breaks a rule during play has to pick up the deck. For example:
  • Replace 'Snap' with another word
  • Replace the card value announced with another word
  • Replace snap action with another action

    • Continue for as long as you want, with as many rules as you can handle.

    shoutout to the friends who would let our snap word be replaced with things like 'any character from shrek, but it has to be a new one every time'
